Express Review 2018: TV Show of The Year
As 2018 draws gently to a close and ‘Best of 2018’ lists are published across the country, we at the University Express thought that we would get in on the action. We asked our editors, contributors, and photographers and our friends at Motley Magazine to give us their own personal highlights of the year that was.Today, we shall be discussing some of the most captivating, funny and downright entertaining TV shows to come out this year. T.V. has been on the up for the last few years, and 2018 marked another milestone, with Netflix kickstarting new shows such as The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Maniac, and winding down series like Daredevil and House of Cards, it's not only Netflix that has seen its such high turnover. The second season of Atlanta was one of the critically related runs for years, and HBO allowed Amy Adams a chance to shine in Sharp Objects, and we haven't even mentioned I'm a Celebrity yet!2018 was a year to remember full of hundreds of highlights. So what did our writers think?
Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father Season 2I cannot get enough of Jack and Michael Whitehall's adventures. I binged the first season in order to write a review for the UCC Express last year, and when the new season was released in 2018, I knew it would live up to the original series. I'm a fan.Lucas Brun, Editor-in-Chief (Motley Magazine) The Haunting of Hill HouseSome might call it the choice of a basic bitch, but I would argue that there isn't much of a choice to be made here. Mike Flanagan is one of the most consistent and promising horror directors working today, and here he crafted a horror masterpiece of such proportions that even the Bent-Neck Lady would have to straighten herself up to pay her respects. It's funny, it's relevant and, at its heart, it's a guy getting back to his roots - in an honest way, it's hilarious and well worth a watch!Rían Browne O'Neill, Sexpress Editor (University Express) Doctor Who: Season 11Jody Whittaker's debut as the thirteenth doctor was phenomenal! In a show that had begun to be dragged down to poor writing of Stephen Moffat, I was very happy with Chris Chibnall's soft reboot.
