Ireland’s Technology Elite to Descend on Cork
Some of Ireland’s most technologically gifted up-and-coming minds will descend upon the Hayfield Manor Hotel in Cork this Monday, February 4th for the first BIS Society Conference. The Business Information Systems Society committee has been in preparation for the past several months for the inaugural event that will see Paul Kenny (inset), James Whelton and Brendan Tuohy among others attending on the day. The event is aimed at encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship within the BIS community in UCC. With the high-calibre speaker line up there is no doubt that all attending will indeed receive inspirational words of wisdom from some of Ireland's technology elite.
The keynote speaker for the conference is Paul Kenny, founder and CEO of Cobone.com, a multi-award winning company based in Dubai which he founded in late 2010 at the young age of 25. In September and October 2012 respectively, Paul won the Middle East Entrepreneur of the Year awarded by Gulf Business and the Ernst & Young Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year, highlighting the explosive growth achieved so early in his career.Cork based, James Whelton co-founder of CoderDojo, will also be speaking at the conference. James’ career is going from strength to strength and in December Forbes Magazine named him as one of "30 under 30" people worldwide to watch out for in 2013, describing him as one of the “young disruptor's, innovators and entrepreneurs” that are changing the world.Brendan Tuohy, former Secretary General of the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources will also present at the conference. Brendan is currently the Chairman of the Global eSchools and Communities Initiative and has fantastic experience to share with students. With the event predominantly being sponsored by Accenture and Bank of Ireland, each will have representatives presenting on the day, providing students with both guidance and information on possible careers. The event is the first of its kind for the BIS community in UCC and it is sure to create a hub for dialogue on some of the most innovating and inspirational entrepreneurial stories currently in the technology sector.
