Player Ratings: Chelsea - Liverpool | Darragh Collins

Chelsea:Cech 8/10Had a very strong performance, good kick outs, stood tall when called upon and couldn’t be faulted for the goal. Made a wonderful one on one stop from Suarez late in the game.Azpilicueta 6/10A very “steady Eddie” performance from the full back. Worked hard and did well when called upon. Struggled to take on Enrique, but quite a good crosser when he found space.Ivanovic 6/10Gave his usual brave performance: strong, aggressive and determined. Had a good battle with Suarez but was caught out more than once by the Uruguayan. Did very well to create space for Terry’s goal.Terry 7/10Performed very well before being taken off with what looked a serious injury. Liverpool attempted to catch him out with his lack of pace but he stood up to the challenge. Scored the opening goal.Bertrand 6/10A solid performance from the improving full back. Worked hard and got forward when the time was right.John Obi Mikel 7/10A very strong game from Mikel. Bossed the midfield for the majority of the game and didn’t allow Allen or Sahin to go passed the half way line. Looked poor going forward at times and was at fault for goal leaving Carragher unmarked for the assist however.Ramires 6/10Gave his usual hard working display, running through the centre carrying the ball and certainly worked the Liverpool midfield, especially in the first half.Mata 7/10October’s player of the month showed what he could do with his bursts through the middle, creating space and showing his fantastic first touch. Hit a bullet of a shot that had it gone in would have been a contender for goal of the season. Chelsea’s main attacking presence as he has been all season.Oscar 4/10Was battered by Enrique for the entire game. The exciting youngster certainly discovered the toughness of the premier league and was taken off in the centre half.Hazard 6/10Drifted in and out of the game. Wasn’t interested in tracking Johnson and mainly stuck to his position with the odd piece of cutting in. The 3rd member of the “3 amigos” showed glimpses of his obvious sublime quality but struggled to get on the ball at times. Had one speculative effort.Torres 6/10Worked his socks off for the entire game. Was involved in a fantastic battle with Carragher and was harshly taken off for Sturridge. Had a wonderful header saved by Jones. Struggled with the 3 man centre back line and was pushed very deep.Substitutes:Cahill 6/10Had a very tough time with Suarez but still played well and was strong in defense.Sturridge 5/10Came on for Torres and struggled to make any impact.Moses 6/10Came on late in the game to run at Enrique but couldn’t find a way past the defender. Tried to make things happen and was adventurous however.Liverpool:Jones 9/10A fantastic performance from the stand in keeper. Was Liverpool’s hero during Chelsea’s dominance in the 1st half. Made some fantastic saves particularly the one on one with Torres. Produced it on the big occasion and certainly made a huge step up.Johnson 6/10A solid performance playing in his best position at wing back where he had a license to go forward and a man behind him if we couldn’t get back in time, did well on Hazard at times despite getting caught out in possession once or twice.Wisdom 5/10Still young and learning his trade, the youngster made one or two nice interceptions, particularly in the build up to the corner but looked nervous on the ball and let Torres get the better of him at times.Carragher 8/10Showed that even at his age he can still come up with the goods. Started off strong before getting tired out. There looked a point when he may have come off but after he assisted the goal he battled on with the adrenaline and won his battle with Torres, looked dodgy in possession at times but made a wonderful assist for Suarez’s goal.Agger 5/10A very disappointing performance from the usually reliable centre half. Was at fault for Terry’s goal, allowing him a free header and was muscled out of it by Torres for most of the game. A bittersweet game for him to remember.Enrique 9/10 *Man of the Match*His best performance in a Liverpool shirt yet. He was a rock in defense as he bullied Oscar all day, looked good going forward and showed his fantastic passing ability. Kept Liverpool in the game and deserved a goal which could have been the winner late in the game. Brilliantly done by a man who was dropped for a spell this season. It was a battle of a game and he was Liverpool’s soldier.Gerrard 5/10A torrid day at the office for Stevie G. Everything went for him going forward and proved to be wasteful in possession. Had one fantastic pass however which should have been a goal for Liverpool. Defended well and there is possibly an argument that Gerrard should return to his defensive midfielder position in which he began his career.Allen 4/10A woeful display from Allen. Looked ok when he was in his own half making short passes but it was when he looked up and attempted to make the killer ball that he continued to lose it. Defended awfully and was overrun by Ramires and Mikel.Sahin 3/10The worst player on the field, Sahin couldn’t cope with Chelsea’s midfield and was the catalyst for Liverpool’s cheapness in possession in the first half. Liverpool looked a different team when the youngster Suso came on in place of him.Sterling 6/10It was a tough day for the 17 year old. Struggled in his new central position. Struggled to get on the ball and was ineffectual until he was moved out to the wing where he really showed his quality, had he started there, perhaps he could have done far more damage. Worked his socks off and made a fantastic burst in the dying minutes of the game to be involved for Enrique’s chance.Suarez 9/10A classy performance by a truly classy striker. His attitude towards opposition players may be cynical but no one can deny that he is true quality. Was a constant thorn in the Chelsea side, particularly when John Terry came off and worked the defense all day. Converted a header from Carragher's assist after winning his individual battle with Ramires. Had a one on one chance towards the end of the game but was denied by Cech. Liverpool’s main man, and if they had not had him then it could have been a sad day for them.Substitutes:Suso 6/10A tidy performance from the youngster and was far more effective than Sahin, provided the ball from the corner for Liverpool’s goal.
