UCC hits lowest ranking in 7 years
[dropcap style= boxed]U[/dropcap]CC fell 20 places in the well-established QS World University Rankings, placing 230th in the world, its lowest ranking since 2007.UCC was a part of an "overarching decline" by Irish colleges, according to QS, with NUIG the only institution to improve its ranking, up 4 to 280th. Ahead of UCC, UCD was unchanged in 139th, while Trinity dropped 10 places to 71st.The Rankings place a 40% emphasis on academic reputation, 20% on faculty/ student ratio and citations per faculty, 10% on employer reputation, with marks also going for international student ratio and international staff ratio.This follows the release of a newly revised global university ranking by the Centre for World University Rankings (CWUR) which saw UCC placed 463rd in the world and third in Ireland.
