On Wednesday morning, the 11th of March, 13 UCC women's rugby players set out at nine o clock from the Mardyke for Carlow IT, with four cars full of people, bags and rugby balls.Playing in the division two Intervarsities, the team reached Carlow and registered to find that some of the teams were unable to travel due to a lack of numbers. This meant games against WIT and DCU were to follow. All teams would play each other on the Wednesday and the team with two wins would go straight into the final on the Thursday, with the other two playing a semi-final Thursday morning to see who would reach the final. The Leesiders came away with a fantastic 55-7 win over WIT. Despite not being used to playing with only ten players on the pitch they still adapted quickly to the space. WIT then played DCU which was an extremely tight match and ended 17-17. The last match of the day for UCC was against DCU. DCU put up an amazing fight and the match ended with the close score of 20-14.
