Sporting UCC Alumni Launch New Books

UCC and Irish rugby legend Donal Lenihan has launched his maiden book this month, entitled “My Life in Rugby.”The book, which tells the life story of the former Lion, paths his career from growing up in Cork City, to his early days at Christian Brothers College, to winning the treble crown and captaining Ireland in the 1987 Rugby World Cup. The book also offers an insight into his post-rugby career by looking at his time as manager of the British and Irish Lions in the 2001 tour of Australia.Described by some as “full of wit, insight and emotional sincerity, this is a rugby book for the ages by a sporting great,” ‘Donal Lenihan: My Life in Rugby’ is a stellar addition to any rugby fan’s bookshelf.Meanwhile, swapping the oval ball for the circular, UCC Freshers Soccer Coach, and Faculty of Law alum, Neal Horgan has released his new book, “Second City,” which details the 2009 Cork City FC season. “Second City” has already been nominated for Irish Sports Book of the Year, facing tough opposition for the prestigious award in Jason McAteer’s ‘Blood Sweat and McAteer’ and ‘The Battle’ by Munster & Ireland Rugby legend Paul O’Connell.
